In order to apply for assessment, you must answer the Cyber Essentials questions on the questionnaire portal.
Pay for your chosen package to receive a login to the portal where you can submit your responses. You will have 6 months to complete your assessment before your non-refundable account is archived or deleted.
For those choosing the GOLD PACKAGE, complete the portal submission but do not submit as we will pre-assess your answers ahead of a support call of up to one hour.
The Cyber Essentials questionnaire in spreadsheet format can be used by anyone as they prepare for submission at no extra cost, but this document cannot be imported/uploaded to the portal and we cannot accept them as a submission. The questions must be answered again on the portal.
Cyber Essentials Checklist
- Ensure you have an up-to-date asset list that contains makes, models and operating systems of all devices. This includes all users’ personal devices if they use them to access business information (including emails etc).
- Identify those systems that need upgrading – especially firewalls and servers as these often take the longest to implement.
- Draw up a network diagram. This is useful to help identify sub-sets should you need to exclude items.
- Inventory all Cloud systems and identify those that don’t have Multi-Factor Authentication enabled.
- Answer all questions on the Portal.
- The Cyber Essentials cost is related to the company size and it is important that this is selected correctly to avoid delays in certification.
What is Cyber Essentials Certification?
Cyber Essentials is a simple but effective, Government backed scheme that will help you to protect your organisation, whatever its size, against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks.
This self-assessment option gives you protection against a wide variety of the most common cyber attacks. This is important because defending your company against the most simple attacks can vastly improve your chances of not becoming a target for the complex attacks.
Why become certified?
Certification gives you, customers, and business partners peace of mind that the company’s cyber security controls will protect against the vast majority of common online attacks.
Cyber Essentials shows you how to address those basics and prevent the most common attack. It should be remembered that some government contracts, and associated supply chains, require Cyber Essentials certification
Companies that are certified reassure future and existing customers that they take the threat of cyber attack seriously and are actively working to secure their systems.
The scheme is also useful to give management a clearer understanding of the organisation’s cyber security level.
Cyber Essentials Plus
